A key question for this case study research was whether the harassment scandal and the way in which the organization responded to it caused employees to distance themselves from the organization.

Although the Covid pandemic introduced a new understanding of the term, social distancing, prior to this, it also referred to how employees might detach themselves from an organization in response to a perceived identity threat. In other words, if employees perceived that their identity as a member of a specific organization was threatened in some way, they could either quit or change the meaning of this identity.

If another job opportunity comes available....

If another job opportunity comes available, I can’t say that I would have hard time deciding to leave. This saddens me, as when I joined the organization, I was very proud to call myself a member of such a well-respected organization. I would never recommend joining the organization to any woman, until some REAL changes happen.

The idea of promoting or hiring people to....

The idea of promoting or hiring people to meet a quota based on equality higher practices is simply crazy. It does not happen in the public sector. Higher the best person for the job, not because they are purple, red, male or female. The same can be said for this idea of combating sexual harassment in the workplace by promoting females. Deal with the guilty members and deal with the management that is not doing anything about it. I have 11 years left in my career until retirement. Leaving the force will be a great day in my life.

If I could start my career over, I would never....

If I could start my career over, I would never have joined the organization. As a female I have faced harassment, discrimination, lack of opportunities, and unethical behaviour. I am not alone in this treatment and as time goes on it seems worse. I would never recommend anyone in my family to work for this organization.

I used to be proud to tell people I was a member....

I used to be proud to tell people I was a member of the organization. Today, if I don’t need to tell someone where I work, I don’t.

Knowing what I know now and having been....

Knowing what I know now and having been the victim of relentless harassment and discrimination intermittently over the course of my 25+ years, I would NEVER do it over!!! The organization would be hard pressed to convince me that it has will and the where-with-all to make the changes that it has proposed, promised and politicized.
